How funny! I live in Japan but am originally from Australia. Love the travel the world ideas for families. My kids are a little young for a lot of things yet but in the future for sure.

For books about Japan {but not necessarily by Japanese authors} I like Yoko by Rosemary Wells, Sora & the cloud, Guri & Gura {We only have the Japanese version but I know it is available in English also} & Tokyo Friends.

As for Australian books I could go on and on about books by Australian authors but some favourites for my kids are Diary of a Wombat by Jackie French, The big wide mouthed frog, anything by Mem Fox or Alison Lester. Oh and easy Aussie "treat" to make would definitely be lamingtons!
