Raising Global kids is one of our big focuses in our homes at The Educators’ Spin On It. Amanda and I both find it such fun to explore cultures throughout the world. As we begin the holiday season we want to be sure to have those Multicultural Resources available at your finger tips. One of the main reasons to help our children know that we share many commonalities with families around the world during this time of celebration.
We encourage you to look out into your community to see what types of public events are happening that celebrate all sorts of backgrounds, not just the one you’re familiar with from your childhood. Many groups would love to welcome local citizens to teach them more about their festivities. Education is the key for our children to learn how to appreciate and value those around them who are diverse and encourage them to celebrate our differences while finding the similarities that make us all realize what a small world we truly live in. We’ll be sharing ideas this month to celebrate Holidays Around the World on the site and on our Bilingual Babies Pinterest Board. Or check out a few books about Holidays Around the World from your library or grab a few on Amazon.
It’s also a great time to plan out what Community Outreach Projects you can do as a family this holiday season. There may be a certain demographic that you could focus your efforts on lifting up and blessing this holiday season if in need.
What special festival does your family celebrate during this time of year?
