The Educators' Spin On It
We are parenting with purpose

Hi I'm Kim Vij! I am a Mom of a 3 year old, a 7 year old and a 21 year old. Babies, preschoolers, and teenagers..we're experiencing all stages of childhood at once at our house!
I worked at a preschool while I was earning my B.S. in Education with a focus in Early Childhood Education. I taught 10 years in elementary school, spending most that teaching Kindergarten, with a year in First Grade and Second Grade. There is no better gift than to experience the magic in the eyes of a child when they learn to read.
After teaching hundreds of children I decided it was my turn to stay at home and teach my two littlest ones and try my best to stay active in our teenager's life. I’ve enjoyed learning how to become a Stay at home Mom, soccer mom, playdate host, local Mom’s Group Organizer and serving our community.
Across the years I’ve learned many tips and tricks of parenting and teaching and I’d love to share them with you and your little ones. Come join me as I share my Educator’s Spin on the daily issues and concerns of parenting. Every moment is a teachable moment!
Amanda's Spin On It
Hi, I am Amanda Boyarshinov, a book loving, hands in the dirt kind of mom. At our house, we cook, we garden, we read, we craft, and we even speak Russian (well, sometimes - it is a beautiful, but difficult language!) My passion is educating children and supporting other parents. Blogging here at The Educators' Spin On It, I hope to inspire you to make everyday moments learning opportunities.
We are truly experts in our field of education and hope to be a resource for YOU! I have a Master of Reading Education for grades K-12 and my B.A. is in Elementary Education. Additionally, I have my English Speakers of Other Languages (E.S.O.L.) endorsement and have received the highest teacher award, my National Board Certification in Early Childhood Education. When blogging, I hope to share some of my "teaching" knowledge and terms with you without being overwhelming. Please don't hesitate to ask if I haven't written something clear enough - I would be more than willing to try it again!
In addition to classroom experience as a teacher, I am also a parent to three little ones. My kids, ages 1, 4, and 7 years old are all inquisitive, active kids, so our household stays hopping. I participate in local mom groups and can be easily convinced to host fun playdates at my house or a local park. I am by no means a perfect parent (those don't exist) but I do try to take every day at a time, enjoy the moment, and be the best person I can be.
My personal goal for 2014 is to model the creative process of my own using an art journal once a week in view of my children (less computer more art time!) and my professional goal is to get one of my children's picture book manuscripts published. Wish me luck!
